MEET AMBER
Hey, I’m Amber Karnes, creator of Body Positive Yoga.
Yoga has been an integral part of my decade-long journey toward self-acceptance and body positivity – making peace with my body and helping others to do the same. I believe that through joyful movement and self-care, we can learn radical self-acceptance and positively experience our bodies, no matter our shape, size, age, or ability.
In my yoga teaching, I emphasize safe alignment and mindful transitions, and help you give yourself permission to honor the body you bring to the mat today, while also being empowered to learn about the body’s intelligence and power. I infuse my classes, workshops, and retreats with the foundational principles of inclusivity, agency, consent, body positivity, and self-acceptance.
I’ve been leading sold out, body-positive retreats all over the country and have been amazed and so grateful to see the transformations that take place when folks feel empowered in their bodies and confident in their minds and hearts. Are you ready to take the first step toward body peace, recharge your creative side, AND have a fabulous, rejuvenating retreat in nature? Join me and Heidi for Camp Wildflower!
MEET HEIDI
I’m Heidi Bennett, a Professional Certified Coach, Singer, Podcaster and Crafter!
I believe that through a more compassionate understanding of ourselves and others we can remove any obstacles keeping us from blooming to our full potential.
My favorite way to teach compassion is through crafting, conversation and camaraderie!
Fill a room with a variety of beautiful supplies, curious, open and friendly folks, set intentions for judgement free support and safety then let the self discovery begin.
Come away from my Self Care Craft Camps with self-care resources and reminders cultivated and co-created in a circle of friendship and fun! Feel confident, understood and loved. I’ve been leading my popular Self Care Craft Camps all over California and am exciting to bring it all to La Honda Park and you.
I’m also thrilled to be leading our dance party on Saturday night! I’ve been called the “Funkiest Woman Alive” and there’s nothing as liberating and joyful as being in a room filled with the hip shaking soulful sounds from my hand selected playlist.
Kick off your shoes and join me on the dance floor as we celebrate connecting to ourselves through movement and laughter. Safely express yourself and let your funky flag fly!
Collaborating with Amber and bringing you this 3 night sleep-away camp is a dream come true.
Amber is one of my mentors. I am inspired by her ability to share her life’s journey while helping us all on ours with inclusivity, practical knowledge and compassion.
Together we’re dedicated to bringing you a safe, fun-filled space to bloom.
If you like to socialize on the tweets and the ‘grams, find me at: Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

“I didn’t think my second retreat could be better than my first. I have grown so much using my experience from my first retreat to the this second one. I maintained friendships, made new ones, deepened my connection with myself, others, and with my practice. It has taught me how to use what I feel on my mat and share it with the world. Most of all it has given me a place to calm my mind, feel confident, and be more authentic with myself. Loved every minute! ”
“I’ve never felt so safe, accepted, and cared for by a group of perfect strangers. The yoga workshops were perfectly accessible, even if it’s been a long time since you last practiced, and I learned more than I dreamed I would. Can’t wait for the next one!”
“Wished it was longer! I can’t wait to go to the next one. I was able to let go of a lot of issues that were holding me back. I feel like I have made friends for a lifetime at the retreat. As women we all have similar issues and to hear you are not alone and that we have shared experiences is a beautiful thing.”
At Camp Wildflower you’ll have round-the-clock access to the lovely in-ground swimming pool, the newly renovated barn recreation room stocked with games, and six entire acres of park to explore. If you’ve never been to a retreat, it might seem intimidating, but we’re working extra hard to make sure this retreat is a safe, judgment-free, fun space for everyone! All bodies will be celebrated and accommodated, and you’ll be sharing space with other likeminded folks who are interested in self-acceptance, self care, yoga, nature, creative thought, and body positivity. Folks who have attended my previous retreats have told me they made friendships that have lasted for years!
Not unless you want to! We have price breaks for double occupancy, so please bring a friend! But you can also reserve a private bed for yourself.
If you’d like to share a room with a new friend who’s coming to the retreat, let us know when you register, and we’ll try to find you a roommate who’s also looking!
Yes! The yoga classes are designed by Amber Karnes, founder of Body Positive Yoga. She specializes in adaptive, inclusive yoga practice for diverse body types. This is low-pressure, judgment-free yoga led by a big yogi with an even bigger heart!
The slumber party room is a cozy space where 5 people will be rooming together. If you snore, it’s not a big deal, but we recommend everyone staying in that room bring earplugs, especially if they’re light sleepers.
That’s fine! Let us know when you register and we’ll do our darndest to make sure you’re as comfortable as possible.
If you’re traveling by plane, we recommend you fly into Sacramento, rent a car, and drive the to the retreat. We are 2 hours from Sacramento and 2½ hours from the Bay Area. When you register, you may be able to share a ride with another attendee. You’ll be able to ask around in our private Facebook group.
We’ll send you a complete packing list before the retreat, but you don’t need any complicated or fancy items. We’ll be bringing comfortable, casual clothing, a yoga mat, a bathing suit, and stuff we need for the outdoors (like sunscreen and bug repellant).
Yes, of course. Trans women, femmes of all genders, and non-binary folks are all welcome.
Don’t miss out on this chance to reconnect with yourself, recharge your batteries, and celebrate your body and soul with an intimate group of creative, body-positive allies.
