Practicing navasana can strengthen your entire body and is especially challenging core work. However, this pose is a complicated one: we’re balancing, we’re making sure to protect the spine, and we have to be engaged in the hips, legs, and arms!

If you’re working on core strength to practice this pose, it can sometimes seem difficult to even get near this boat. In this video, we’ll learn some techniques to work on core strength to build toward the traditional expression of boat pose. We’ll work with a chair and some props to start to instruct our bodies on the energetic actions we need to sustain this full-body-strengthening pose.
