This practice can be done just about anywhere. You will need:
- A yoga mat (optional, but it’s nice to have a little something between yourself and the floor)
- A bolster, folded blanket, firm cushion, or rolled up towel to sit on
- Half an hour
I hope you enjoy this 30-minute yoga practice for beginners!
The book I mentioned in the podcast is The Gifts of Imperfection: Let Go of Who You Think You’re Supposed to Be and Embrace Who You Are

Doing this was my first experience with yoga. I thought it was fantastic! Very gentle and easy to understand you instructions. Thank you so much! I would also love to do a longer version once I get more comfortable doing yoga! 🙂
Thank you SOOOOO much for this. I so appreciate your courage in being who you are. I’ve been through quite a journey myself this past couple years in learning to stop hating my body and learning to take care of myself in affirming ways. Having great role models is wonderful! You’re doing a great service to the world. Keep it up!
Thank you so much Amber! For years I have dreamed of doing Yoga until today this very morning in Edmonton, AB I did your 30 minute podcast and am so happy! Thank you for doing this. I am new to this but felt welcomed and able thanks to you. I wish you had a DVD of a full session that I could do at home just so I know I am doing it right. Again gratitude and light! Namaste.
Hi Amber. Just discovered you today.. and I’m a very happy danish girl now. I love the way that you explain simple things in a way that normally would make people shamed of talking about, fx. move you belly fat 😀 I wanted to do Yoga for several years now, but haven’t attended any classes or so, because of my size. What a shame!! Ijust did your 30 minutes Yoga workout, and it felt great!! The only thing I have to mention, is that I’m not sure if I get all the poses right. I have a little problem with understanding al the words. If you ever feel like it or have the time, I would love at Youtube video of you doing this 30 minute practice :))
Love and hugs from Sandie.
Amber… I am not sure how to put words to my gratitude for having found your website today. I have had, like most, a long and complicated relationship path with my body. As of late we have been having a fight. I want to get back to a wellness mindset and positive practices. The work is very tender physically and emotionally right now. I tried to do the first session of couch to 5K yesterday…only to realize that my joints are not up for that at the moment. Today, I went looking, like so many times before, for a yoga session that might meet me where I am at. Found myself in tears with one session and not fulfilled with another. But something kept me looking and I found you. I look forward to engaging in more of the resources you have available on this site. Thanks for your time, energy and compassion!
Hi! I hope you make more podcasts soon. I downloaded the app
