Welcome to day 4 of your 7-day yoga exploration! Yesterday, we explored some exercises to revitalize our hands, wrists, and forearms. Today we’ll be learning how to breathe!
That might sound stupid – after all, we’ve been breathing 24 hours a day, every day, since we were born, including when we’re asleep! Most of the time, we don’t even think about breathing. But learning to breathe from our diaphragm is essential for health, vitality, and calm focus.
If you’re feeling anxious, calm, slow breathing with a focus on expanding and contracting the diaphragm can be used throughout the day to relieve the discomfort brought on by anxiety. I love this simple animation to help lengthen your inhales and exhales and bring the breath into a calm, smooth rhythm.
Today, we’ll work with a 3-part breath to learn diaphragmatic breathing. Let’s go!
Tomorrow, we’ll learn how to recruit our glutes for a strong, safe, stable yoga practice!
See you on the mat!

Thank you for sharing the information about WHY oxygen is so important to our cells. I didn’t know about ATP. This 3 part breathing exercise was so relaxing; it brought my mind and body to a peaceful state. Thank you Amber!
